If
TV commercials were to have a cast list at the end, Steve Hudson's name
would be known to millions. Instead, the man who poses the question 'Who
knows the secret of the Black Magic Box?' is a bit of a mystery man himself,
a familiar voice behind a well known brand name identity.
Steve has been involved in thousands of television commercials as a presenter
and voice over. You've heard him as Superman when he chased the evil Nick-o-Tine
across your screens in the famous million pound anti-smoking campaign and
in the Old spice adverts he tells you it's the Mark of a Man. His voice
advertises many other products including Gallo Wine, Disney, Kodak, Martini,
Ford, Shell, Pentax, Guinness and milk on Swiss television! He can also
be heard regularly on Radio 5 South Africa and Radio 3 Tokyo.
You've seen him in over 100 campaigns, from Harp Lager to Drifter Chocolate,
and he has recently appeared as Signor Tonino in a £2 million advertising
campaign selling Tonino wine.
Steve was trained at London's Royal National Theatre and was proud to have the
same voice coach as Laurence Olivier. During this time he came close to real
stardom when Cubby Broccoli was casting for the lead role in James Bond movies;
Steve said he lost by an eyebrow (and a few million pounds) to Roger Moore.
Steve Hudson has been a voice over and television presenter for 20 years
and in this time has won a number of awards for production and performance.
Steve also runs seminars at the Actors Centre, advising actors on how to
start in the voice over business. During a Master Class he recently ran
on Talk Radio, listeners were invited to read a voice-over live on air.
It was so popular that a second programme is being planned.
Steve firmly believes that everyone has the potential; they just need to be
trained. People do not become good actors, golfers or surgeons without proper
training.
Through Voice Master Productions, he recently devised 10 new programme ideas
for NBC in New York, including the Round the World quiz show, The Castaways,
the Horace Cope game show and the Hudson Report.
Steve has enjoyed working with and interviewing many stars and celebrities,
including Frank Sinatra, Roger Moore, the Duke and Duchess of Bedford, David
Bailey, Hulk Hogan, Pele and Tracey Ullman.
As a leading international trainer and voiceover, he has set up a company
called Voice Master, which created the PSR™ Method (Presentation Skills
and Reading) to train people with the skills they need for voice overs,
television presenting and public speaking. It is the basis for all courses
in verbal communication.
This is proving popular with everyone from accountants to actors, company executives
to potential television hosts and of course politicians and anyone in the public
eye.
